Ranveer Singh’s birthday wish for Kapil Dev is pure gold, calls the icon ‘colossus of a captain’, OG ‘Sakht Jaan’

Legendary cricketer Kapil Dev turned a year older today. The former captain of the Indian cricket team holds a special place in the hearts of every Indian.

Ranveer Singh took the opportunity to express his admiration for the iconic cricketer.

"Happy birthday to the original Sakht Jaan @therealkapildev what an honour it’s been embodying your champion spirit on screen!" said Singh in his Instagram post.

Singh also heaped praises on Kapil Dev on Twitter. The actor who is currently basking in the glory of ‘83’ where he was seen playing Kapil Dev called him ‘colossus of a captain’. '83' directed by Kabir Khan recounts India’s World Cup victory in 1983.

“Colossus of a Captain! Gem of a person! Thank you Sir for embracing us and allowing us to tell your extraordinary story! Here’s wishing the OG @therealkapildev good health and joy on his special day!” read his tweet.
While Singh's role as Dev in '83' earned him rave reviews, the ace cricketer too was impressed by the actor. "Ranveer is a great actor. I don't think he needs any inputs or any help. He just spent time with me and rest he is smart enough," Dev had told the media after the film's trailer was launched.

On the occasion, actress Neha Dhupia shared a picture of her family with Kapil Dev and his wife Romi. "happy birthday sir, here's to a year filled with happiness, having conversations over croissants and you showing our baby girl more videos of your cute little cat, we love you," posted the actress on her Instagram with the picture.
