A 'shaken' Suniel Shetty bowled over by Ranveer Singh's performance in '83', calls his Kapil Dev act 'incredible'

Suniel Shetty seems to be bowled over by ‘83’. The actor took to Twitter on Tuesday to shower praise on the movie, calling Ranveer Singh’s performance “astounding” and that his transformation as Kapil Dev was incredible.

“Went to watch @RanveerOfficial in #83. Couldn’t spot him. There was only Kapil Dev on screen. Incredible transformation. I am stunned beyond. A team cast that could’ve walked off Lords. Got gooseflesh like I was reliving ‘83. Still shaken& teary-eyed at the artistry & emotions," said Shetty in his post.



In another tweet, he added that the power of the scenes and characters ‘blew’ his socks off.

Meanwhile, veteran actress Simi Garewal, too, chimed in with her note of appreciation for the film.

"You will cheer..you will clap..& scream.. & rejoice.. & cry..your heart will swell with pride & emotion in perhaps the greatest film experience since forever! #83TheFilm. Congrats @kabirkhankk. Kudos @RanveerOfficial, Salute @therealkapildev," tweeted Garewal.

Garewal also tweeted an old episode of her famous show ‘Rendezvous with Simi Garewal’ where she had interviewed Kapil Dev. The show was recorded in 1998.

Critics are appreciating '83' for its intricate depiction of the historic cricket match. Many have highlighted the detailing in characterisation and plot build-up that evoke the events that took place during the World Cup in 83.

Most fans and critics have unanimously hailed Ranveer Singh's performance as Kapil Dev.

Noted film critic Anupama Chopra went on to call the film a deserving watch.

"Learned today that crying in a movie, wearing an N-95 mask is tough. The tears have nowhere to go. Also, your nose starts running and things get really messy. But it was totally worth it!! #83," said Chopra.

In a recent interview, while talking about character development Ranveer Singh said that bowling like Dev was the most difficult part of his character.

"Bowling like Kapil Dev was the most difficult aspect of the character development. He has a very unique bowling action and his bio-mechanics are very unique to him. My body is very different from his so I had to transform my physicality drastically in order to achieve it," Singh said.

‘83’ is all set to release theatrically worldwide on Thursday.
