More about Ranabaali
The film features Vijay as Singanamala Bobbili Ranabaali, a warrior from Rayalaseema who rises against British colonial rule. Rashmika plays Jayamma, his wife, whose relationship with him forms an important part of the story. International actor Arnold Vosloo, known for The Mummy, plays Sir Theodore Hector, a fictional British commissioner. The movie is directed by Rahul Sankrityan, and has received mixed reviews from both critics and viewers. Its box-office performance in the coming days will be important, particularly given its reported production budget of around Rs 120 crore.
Ranabaali tells a fictional tale of resistance to British colonial rule against the backdrop of the Great Famine of 1876–1878. The movie centers on a warrior who battles to defend his people from oppression rather than a well-known historical figure.
Vijay’s character takes on the British administration as tensions rise in the region, while Rashmika’s Jayamma plays a key role in his personal journey. Arnold Vosloo’s Sir Theodore Hector serves as the fictional colonial authority opposing the protagonist.
