Jailer 2 box office collection day 5: Rajinikanth's film is unstoppable, inches towards Rs 500 crore mark globally

Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 continues to dominate the box office, with the action sequel approaching the Rs 500 crore mark worldwide within five days of its release. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the film has recorded strong collections across India and overseas, adding another major success to the 75-year-old superstar’s long career.

According to Sacnilk, Jailer 2 collected Rs 42.35 crore net in India on Day 5, taking its total domestic net collection to Rs 242.25 crore. With overseas earnings adding to its total, the film’s worldwide gross collection has reached Rs 477.75 crore. It is now within striking distance of the Rs 500 crore milestone.




On Day 5, Jailer 2 recorded a net collection of Rs 42.35 crore across 15,215 shows in India, according to Sacnilk estimates. The Tamil version remained the biggest contributor, earning Rs 31.40 crore from 7,853 shows.

The Telugu version collected Rs 7.15 crore from 2,144 shows, while the Hindi version earned Rs 3.35 crore across 5,044 shows. The Kannada version added Rs 45 lakh from 174 shows.

With these earnings, the film’s total India gross collection stands at Rs 283.75 crore, while its net collection has reached Rs 242.25 crore. The film also earned Rs 10 crore from overseas markets on Day 5, taking its total overseas gross to Rs 194 crore.

Its worldwide gross collection now stands at Rs 477.75 crore. The film has also emerged as the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2026 so far. However, its performance over the coming weekdays will be important in determining how quickly it crosses the Rs 500 crore mark.

Festive holidays boost Rajinikanth’s action sequel

The film’s box-office run has received support from the Navaratri and Dasara festive period. Despite moving into the weekdays, Jailer 2 has continued to attract audiences across multiple language versions.

The film has also benefited from a relatively clear release window at the Tamil box office, allowing it to maintain its momentum without facing major competition in its home market. Its next test will be whether it can sustain the collections through the rest of the week and carry the same pace into the upcoming weekend.

The film’s performance has once again highlighted Rajinikanth’s strong pull among theatrical audiences. With the worldwide collection nearing Rs 500 crore, the sequel has established itself as one of the major box-office performers of the year.

Written and directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, Jailer 2 is produced by Kalanithi Maran under the Sun Pictures banner. It serves as a sequel to the 2023 film Jailer and sees Rajinikanth return as retired jailer Tiger Muthuvel Pandian.

The cast includes Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu and Mirnaa, who reprise their roles from the first film. Vidya Balan, SJ Suryah, Mithun Chakraborty and Suraj Venjaramoodu join the sequel, while Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar and Jackie Shroff return in cameo appearances.

The story follows Muthuvel Pandian as he faces new enemies connected to an idol-smuggling network while trying to protect his family. The sequel builds on the events of the first film, bringing together action, family drama and the return of familiar characters.
