Ramayana release date update: Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Yash's movie to release early in 5 countries. Check new date

The much-awaited film of the year, Ramayana: Rise of a Legend, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Yash and Ravie Dubey, is all set to release this year. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Part 1 will arrive a day earlier in five global countries than its India release.

Producer Namit Malhotra had earlier announced that Ramayana will hit theatres in India during Diwali, which will be celebrated on November 8. Now, the makers have officially announced a new release date in five global countries - Thailand, Germany, Australia, Singapore and Malaysia.

Ramayana Part 1 new release date

According to an NDTV report, Namit Malhotra has confirmed that Ramayana: Part 1 will release internationally on November 6, 2026. This means audiences in the five selected international markets will get to watch the film a day before its planned India release.




Explaining the reason behind the early international release, he said, "So we are releasing internationally on November 6. The international distribution works from a Friday standpoint, so that's why it's releasing on the 6th of November. But in India, we are currently targeting the Diwali release,"

The five countries where the film will release early are Thailand, Germany, Australia, Singapore and Malaysia.

Ramayana's Rs 4,000 crore budget

Ramayana: Rise of a Legend is one of the most ambitious Indian film projects in terms of scale and budget. The two-part epic has reportedly been made on a budget of around Rs 4,000 crore.

Speaking to Prakhar Gupta, Namit Malhotra opened up about the scale of the project and revealed that work on the film began several years ago. He recalled that when the team first started developing the project around six or seven years ago, some people felt the idea was unrealistic because Indian cinema had not attempted a film of this scale.

According to Malhotra, the combined budget of the two parts is expected to be around $500 million, which is more than Rs 4,000 crore. The producer has been closely associated with the project and has previously spoken about taking the Indian epic to a global audience.

The recently released trailer gives audiences a first look at the world created by Nitesh Tiwari. It opens with Yash as Ravana, who is seen emerging from the shadows before entering his grand palace and declaring his authority over the three worlds.

The story then moves towards the birth of Lord Rama. Ranbir Kapoor plays Rama, while Arun Govil plays King Dasharatha. The trailer also introduces Ayodhya and gives a glimpse of Rama's relationship with his family and the people of the kingdom.

Sai Pallavi plays Sita, and the trailer features glimpses of Rama and Sita's wedding. However, their happiness is short-lived as Rama accepts Kaikeyi's wish and prepares to leave Ayodhya for a 14-year exile.



Ravie Dubey plays Lakshmana, who accompanies Rama during his exile. The trailer gives viewers a glimpse of the emotional journey that forms an important part of the epic.

Apart from Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Yash and Ravie Dubey, the film features Sunny Deol as Hanuman. Arun Govil is seen as Dasharatha, while the ensemble cast brings several key characters from the epic to the screen.

The film also has an international musical collaboration. Hans Zimmer and AR Rahman have composed the music for the project.

Ramayana: Rise of a Legend is planned as a two-part film. Part 1 is scheduled to release during Diwali 2026, with the international release in the five markets set for November 6. The second instalment is expected to arrive during Diwali 2027. Stay tuned!
