So, for those wondering what happens at the end of Part 1, fret not. We have got you covered. Before we move ahead, a spoiler warning: this article reveals key moments from the film, including its ending and post-credits scene.
Ramayana Part 1 ending explained
Mounted on a combined budget of reportedly over Rs 4,000 crore, the ambitious project features extensive visual effects by Oscar-winning studio DNEG.The first part follows Rama's life in Ayodhya, his bond with his brothers - Lakshmana, Bharata and Shatrughna and the events that lead to his exile. It also introduces Ravana and his kingdom of Lanka, setting up the conflict between the two powerful figures.
The latter takes the form of a beautiful golden deer and catches Sita's attention. She asks Rama to bring it to her, which led him to leave their forest home. Lakshmana follows soon after, leaving Sita alone.
Ravana then arrives and disguised himself as an ascetic seeking alms. After tricking Sita into crossing the protective boundary made by Lakshmana, he takes her away in the Pushpaka Vimana, heading towards Lanka.
Sita's cries for help. Jatayu, the noble bird, spots Ravana carrying her away and immediately tries to stop him. He attacks the flying vehicle and puts up a brave fight, hoping to rescue Sita from the demon king.
What to expect in Ramayana Part 2
When Rama and Lakshmana return, they are shocked to find Sita missing. They begin searching the forest and eventually come across the severely wounded Jatayu. Before taking his last breath, the bird tells Rama that Ravana is responsible for Sita's abduction and reveals the direction in which he was taken.Rama is heartbroken by Jatayu's death and performs his last rites. However, the incident also changes his approach to the journey ahead. His grief soon turns into determination, and finding Sita becomes his primary mission.
The film ends on this emotional note rather than taking the story towards the eventual battle between Rama and Ravana. It leaves the audience with Rama aware of Sita's whereabouts but still far from reaching her.
There is also a small but important detail before the film's post-credits sequence. During her journey to Lanka, Sita drops her jewellery along the way. She hopes that the ornaments will serve as clues and help Rama trace her route.
The post-credits scene then shifts to Kishkindha, where Sugriva discovers the jewellery. He eventually hands the ornaments to Hanuman. In the Ramayana end credits, Sunny Deol makes an entry as Lord Hanuman. The theatre went wild, and it made the fans more excited to look forward to Part 2. At the end, they also show Ravana's eldest son and the crown prince of Lanka, Meghanad (also known as Indrajit). Raghav Juyal is going to play this role in second part.
As for the sequel, producer Namit Malhotra has confirmed that Ramayana: Part 2 will arrive during Diwali 2028. The additional time will allow the team to work on the extensive visual effects required for the concluding chapter.
