In the late 1980s, watching the iconic show 'Ramayana' became a daily ritual for many Indians.
Two weeks after the release of director Om Raut's magnum opus 'Adipurush', the iconic TV show 'Ramayan' is all set to return to the small screen.

Director Ramanand Sagar's classic TV show, featuring Arun Govil (Ram) and Dipika Chikhlia (Sita), will be telecasted on July 3 at 7:30 pm on Shemaroo TV.

The official Instagram account of the Hindi family entertainment channel shared a glimpse of the popular mythological show. The caption in Hindi read, "We are bringing to all dear viewers the world-famous mythological serial 'Ramayan'... from July 3 at 7:30 PM only on Shemaroo TV."



In the late 1980s, watching the superhit show 'Ramayana' became a household ritual for many Indians.

The iconic mythological series also featured Sunil Lahri as Lakshman, and late actors Dara Singh as Hanuman and Arvind Trivedi as Ravana. The show was originally aired from January 25, 1987, to July 31, 1988.

The announcement of the TV show came days after the release of 'Adipurush'. After the news broke, the excited fans flooded the comment section with red heart emoticons.

During the covid-lockdown in 2020, the national TV channel Doordarshan also decided to re-telecast the mythological series on public demand.

Meanwhile, the Prabhas-starrer multilingual 3D spectacle has collected Rs 450 crore (gross) globally in 10 days since its release on June 16. The modern-day tale of 'Ramayan' has received a mix response from the audience.

The pan-India film was released in five regional languages - Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Tamil. It stars Prabhas as Raghav (Ram), Kriti Sanon as Janaki (Sita), Sunny Singh as Lakshmana (Laxman), Devdatta Nage as Bajrang (Hanuman) and Saif Ali Khan as Lankesh (Raavan).

'Adipurush' is produced by Bhushan Kumar of T-Series. It is also produced by Krishan Kumar, Raut, Prasad Sutar, and Rajesh Nair of Retrophiles, Pramod, and Vamsi of UV Creations.
