Beyond his career, Mark Ruffalo’s personal life has been shaped by both stability and unexpected challenges. He married Sunrise Coigney in 2000, and together they have three children. Not long after completing work on The Last Castle, Ruffalo was diagnosed with a vestibular schwannoma, a benign brain tumour also known as an acoustic neuroma. Although the tumour was not cancerous, the surgery to remove it led to partial facial paralysis and hearing loss. The paralysis gradually faded within a year, but he permanently lost hearing in his left ear.
