Arnold Schwarzenegger was brought up by a strict and disciplined father, Gustav Schwarzenegger.
Austrian-American actor, turned businessman, politician and former professional bodybuilder, Arnold Schwarzenegger is popular for his intense action movies. The Terminator actor once said in his book titled ‘Total Recall: My Unbelievably True Life Story’, about how he build a positive and winning mindset, which helped him succeed in life. He said, “I never went to a competition to compete. I went to win. Even though I didn’t win every time, that was my mindset. I became a total animal.” He further added that he would think that he absolutely deserves to be on the pedestal as the winner and owns it. He believed that the obstacles would move away from his path, as he was a man on mission and his entire focus was on getting the trophy. He would picture himself already winning and holding the trophy in his hand, while others stood below, and he would look down at them.


Arnold Schwarzenegger’s disciplined upbringing

Arnold Schwarzenegger was brought up by a strict and disciplined father, Gustav Schwarzenegger. Gustav was the local chief of police, and he served as a military policeman in World War II. Arnold, in his book, shared how his father had set a strict routine for him and his brother. In fact, his father made sure that he played sports, and exercises were added to the household chores. He and his brother had to earn their breakfast after doing sit-ups. At noon, the brothers would finish their homework, studying and chores and later, would go for soccer practice, no matter what the weather outside was.



Schwarzenegger started lifting weights at the age of 15, and at 20, he won the title Mr Universe in the bodybuilding championship. He has won the title of Mr Olympia seven times and was nicknamed the Austrian Oak during his bodybuilding days.


After retiring from bodybuilding, he gained fame in Hollywood. He starred in Conan the Barbarian, a breakthrough role for him, and he later starred in its sequel, Conan the Destroyer.
He gained massive love and shot to further fame with his role as the Terminator in the sci-fi movie The Terminator and its sequels. He has featured in other action flicks like Commando, Predator, Total Recall, and True Lies.
