Big B fans brace yourselves… for you can now indulge in a Shahenshah movie extravaganza! A non-profit organisation named The Film Heritage Foundation is celebrating Big B’s birthday through a one-of-a-kind film festival. Titled ‘Bachchan Back To The Beginning’, this festival will take place across 17 cities across 22 theatres. The event is organised in partnership with PVR, one of the leading multiplex chains in India.

The festival started on October 8 and will continue till October 11 coinciding with the megastar’s birthday.

This will be a grand opportunity to discover the ‘living legend’ like never before. The festival will screen some of his old landmark films and also display some of the rare behind-the-scenes pictures from the star’s life and career.

On Bachchan’s birthday, viewers can watch some of his greatest hits like ‘Kabhie Kabhie’, ‘Chupke Chupke’, ‘Kaala Patthar’, ‘Satte Pe Satta’, ‘Abhimaan’, ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’, ‘Deewar’, ‘Kaalia’ and ‘Namak Halaal’.

The movie tickets will all be available at an affordable price of Rs 80. PVR is also offering a movie pass that can be renewed at the ticket counter at any of the 22 theatres where the movies are being screened. The pass can be purchased online through the PVR app and website.

The audience will also be treated to an exhibition of about 50 photographs, sourced from the collection of celebrated film historian SMM Ausaja.

Bachchan was pleasantly surprised at the unconventional yet thoughtful birthday gift. The ‘Muqaddar Ka Sikandar’ star took to social media to express his gratitude and added that he had never expected to see his early films being screened again in his lifetime.

“I hope that this is just the beginning of many festivals that will celebrate landmark films of Indian cinema back on the big screen,” the 79-year-old said in a post.

Film Heritage Foundation is spearheaded by Shivendra Singh Dungarpur, an award-winning film director. Aside from being a cinephile, he is also a noted film archivist and restorer. He made news for preserving 60 Bachchan movies in a temperature-controlled archive in Mumbai.
