‘PS:1’ shows no sign of slowing down at BO, may mint Rs 450 cr by end of week

In less than two weeks since its release on September 30, 'PS;1' has managed to amass over Rs 400 cr at the box-office. The film collected Rs 308.59 cr in its first weekend. In the second week, the historical drama is expected to cross Rs 150 cr worldwide. Trade analyst Manobala Vijayabalan shared a breakdown of the box-office collection of the Mani Ratnam directorial on Twitter.

Out of Rs 400 cr, about Rs 150 cr have come from that state. ‘PS:1’ is now the fourth Tamil film to enter the ‘Rs 400 crore club’. The other Tamil movies that have achieved this landmark include, ‘2.0’, ‘Kabali’, and ‘Vikram’.
For the uninitiated, ‘Ponniyin Selvan: I’ is an adaptation of the literary classic of the same name written by Kalki Krishnamurthy. The film stars an ensemble cast that includes illustrious names such as Chiyaan Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi, Jayam Ravi and Trisha. The film also stars Jayaram, Prakash Raj, Sarathkumar Sobhita Dhulipala, Aishwarya Lekshmi and others.
