PM Modi calls Puneeth Rajkumar's last on-screen outing 'Gandhada Gudi' a tribute to Mother Nature

Late Kannada star Puneeth Rajkumar's upcoming documentary drama 'Gandhada Gudi' was released on Sunday.

The actor's wife, Ashwini Puneeth Rajkumar, share a special note with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Twitter. In her post, the producer said that it was an important project for Puneeth, and hence, wanted to share it with PM Modi.

"Today is an emotional day for us as we are releasing the trailer of 'Gandhada Gudi', a project close to Appu's heart. Appu always cherished the interactions with you & would have loved to share with you in person," her post read alongside a poster of the docudrama.


In another tweet, Ashwini shared a throwback picture of herself with Puneeth and Modi from happier times.

"Appu is not in our midst, but his life and work motivates and gives us the strength to embrace the culture of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ (the world is one family). GG Movie celebrates cinema and also holds a mirror to the rich heritage, culture, nature, and diversity of our land (sic)," her post concluded.


Thrilled to get a note from the PRK Productions co-founder, PM Modi offered his best wishes for the documentary that will highlight Karnataka's natural abundance.

Calling it a tribute to Mother Nature, Modi said Appu, as Puneeth was fondly called, lives in the hearts of millions around the world. The Prime Minister said that he was brilliance personified, full of energy and blessed with unparalleled talent. Appu was an actor, playback singer, television presenter and producer.

"'Gandhada Gudi' is a tribute to Mother Nature, Karnataka's natural beauty and environmental conservation. My best wishes for this endeavour," he wrote.

Bank-rolled by PRK Productions and Mudskipper, it features Puneeth and Amoghavarsha exploring the wildlife, nature and its majestic beauty.

Helmed by Amoghavarsha, the docu-drama features the last big-screen appearance of the late star. Puneeth passed away last year after suffering a massive heart attack on October 29, 2021, at the age of 46. The docudrama is set for release on October 28, a day before Puneeth's first death anniversary.

Incidentally, 'Gandhada Gudi' happens to be the name of an iconic Kannada film, which featured Puneeth's megastar father, the late Dr Raj Kumar.
