Fans’ favourite IU and Byeon Woo-seok have joined hands for the upcoming romantic K-drama Perfect Crown. The makers unveiled the teaser of the series on March 12, leaving fans excited about the new on-screen pairing. The drama is written by Yoo Ji-won and directed by Park Joon-hwa and Bae Hee-young, with planning by Kang Dae-seon. Produced by MBC and Kakao Entertainment, the show is scheduled to premiere next month. Here's where you can watch in India.

Teaser raises anticipation

The newly released teaser offers a glimpse into the intense world of the royal drama. It introduces Ian Daegun, played by Byeon Woo-seok, a member of the royal family who carries significant responsibility within the monarchy. Although he is admired by the public for his dignity and leadership, Ian Daegun faces limitations within the royal hierarchy because he is the second son and cannot ascend the throne.




Despite his calm and commanding presence, the teaser hints that Ian Daegun’s life is far from simple. Members of the royal family, including Queen Dowager Yoon Yi-rang, played by Gong Seung-yeon, appear to question his actions and motives, adding tension to his position within the palace.



The drama also introduces Seong Hee-joo, portrayed by IU, who becomes an important figure in Ian Daegun’s life. While he is often seen as cold and distant in public, the teaser reveals a softer and more protective side of his personality when he interacts with her.

Moments shown in the teaser suggest that their relationship develops through a contract marriage arrangement.

Along with romantic moments, the teaser also hints at darker developments. Scenes showing a dramatic road chase and Ian Daegun appearing injured suggest that powerful forces may be working against him. These elements add suspense and raise questions about the challenges the royal figure will face.

The story is set in a fictional version of modern South Korea that functions as a constitutional monarchy. Within this setting, the drama explores the romance between a wealthy chaebol woman who struggles with her social status and a royal prince who feels trapped by the limitations placed on him.

Supporting cast and characters

Apart from the lead pair, Perfect Crown features a strong supporting cast. Actors including Noh Sang-hyun, Yoo Su-bin, Lee Yeon and Chae Seo-an play key roles in the royal romantic drama.

For fans of the two lead actors, the drama also marks an exciting return. It will be IU’s next major drama after When Life Gives You Tangerines, while Byeon Woo-seok takes on the project following the success of his popular series Lovely Runner.

When and where to watch in India

The much-awaited K-drama will begin streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from April 10 at 9:40 pm. After the premiere episode, new episodes will be released every Friday and Saturday.

However, for Indian viewers, it is still unclear whether the show will also be available on the platform JioHotstar. More details regarding availability in the region may be announced closer to the release date.
