In 2022, Hansika Motwani and Sohael Khaturiya tied the knot in Jaipur and now, in 2026, they have officially ended their marriage. The couple was granted a divorce by the Bandra Family Court in Mumbai. According to reports, the separation happened through mutual consent after both parties acknowledged that the relationship had irretrievably broken down. The two had reportedly been living separately since July 2024 before formally deciding to part ways.

While their separation has recently made headlines, the couple’s relationship had been surrounded by controversy even before their wedding. Soon after Hansika and Sohael announced their engagement in 2022, social media was flooded with discussions about Sohael’s past marriage and Hansika’s connection to it.

Controversy around Sohael’s first marriage

Before marrying Hansika, Sohael Khaturiya was previously married to Rinky Bajaj. Their marriage reportedly ended in divorce after a few years. However, when Hansika announced her engagement to Sohael, several old videos from Sohael and Rinky’s wedding resurfaced online.

In those clips, Hansika could be seen attending the wedding celebrations and participating in functions such as the haldi and sangeet ceremonies. In one video that circulated widely, the actress was even seen sitting beside Rinky during her chooda ceremony.

As the videos went viral, social media users began speculating about the nature of Hansika’s relationship with Rinky. Some users claimed that Rinky had once been Hansika’s close friend and accused the actress of later marrying her friend’s former husband. The allegations quickly spread across social media platforms, leading to significant trolling directed at the actress.

Hansika addressed the backlash

Hansika eventually responded to the controversy in the docu-series Love Shaadi Drama, which documented her wedding with Sohael. In the first episode of the show, the actress spoke about the online criticism she faced.

She explained that, "Just because I knew the person at that time doesn’t mean it was my fault. I have nothing to do with this. Because I am a public figure, it was very easy for people to point at me and make me the villain. This was a price I pay for being a celebrity."

Sohael Khaturiya also came forward to address the rumours and defend Hansika. He stated that news about his previous marriage had surfaced in a misleading manner and created the impression that his earlier relationship ended because of Hansika.


According to Sohael, those claims were completely false and had no basis in reality. He clarified that his first marriage had taken place years earlier and lasted only a short time. He added that the speculation began largely because people saw photos of Hansika attending his earlier wedding and assumed a connection that did not exist.

For the unversed, Hansika and Sohael had reportedly known each other for many years before they began dating. According to reports, the two had been friends for over eight years and had also collaborated on business ventures and social events. Over time, their friendship gradually evolved into a romantic relationship, eventually leading to their wedding in December 2022 at Mandota Fort in Jaipur.

Divorce after four years

Now, four years after their wedding, the couple has decided to go their separate ways. Reports suggest that both Hansika and Sohael agreed to the divorce amicably after living apart for nearly two years.
