Priyanka Chopra calls 2022 a life-changing year, feels her career & life are at 'precipice of transformation'

It has been a life-changing year for global icon Priyanka Chopra, who welcomed a baby girl with singer-husband Nick Jonas via surrogacy in January.

All set to turn 40 on July 18, the new mother has beach, sunshine and her family on her mind for her big celebration.

During an interview with Travel + Leisure, she shared that while her husband plans her birthdays, this year may be different as she wants to hit the beach with her family. "I hope I have sand between my toes while I turn 40," she was quoted as saying.


The 39-year-old is excited to welcome the next decade of her life. "It's the next decade of my life... I'm very excited about the future. I don't know what we're going to do yet, because my husband and I plan each other's birthday, but I know what state of mind I want to be in," she added.

Chopra, who made her Hollywood debut with 'Quantico' in 2015, has become a well-known name in Tinseltown with her big releases such as 'Baywatch'(2017), 'We Can Be Heroes' (2020), and 'The Matrix Resurrections' (2021).

Chopra told T+L that she is curious and excited about her career and life. "I am curious about where my career will take me, my life will take me. I'm at a place where I feel like I'm at the precipice of change and I'm ready to accept it and receive it."

On the work front, a number of releases are keeping the actress busy this year. Her upcoming film 'It's All Coming Back' with co-star Sam Heughan is based on the 2016 German film 'SMS fur Dich' by Karoline Herfurth.

Initially titled 'Text For You', the movie is scheduled to release in theatres on February 10, 2023. Chopra will be seen playing the role of a woman struggling to move on from the death of her fiance. To cope, she begins sending messages to his old phone number, which has been reassigned to a new man, played by Sam. The two meet and develop a connection based on their shared heartbreak.

The 'Fashion' star recently wrapped the shoot for her Amazon series 'Citadel', a much-anticipated TV series that comes from the Russo Brothers, the directors of MCU movies like 'Avengers: End Game'.

Big travel plans
The self-proclaimed workaholic believes in only 'fabulous' vacations, a taste she acquired in the last five years or so, she said during the T+L interview. "It took me about 20 years of working to realise taking vacations is a big part of healing, restoring yourself, and feeling and coming back energised. I make sure my vacations are what dreams are made of because I work bloody hard, so when I go on holiday, I want to holiday hard, too," she shared.

While her love for the ocean is undeniable, she is eager to return to India, she said.

"My brain has been taking vacations every night, but I am dying to go back to India. Every state in India has its own written and spoken language, which means different alphabets, clothing, attire, foods, and holidays. So it's like going to a new country every time you cross the border in India. Every time I go back home, I make sure I take time to do a bit of a holiday and travel," she added.

The actress recently revealed the name of her daughter - Malti Marie Chopra Jonas.
