Sivakarthikeyan’s Parasakthi, a period political drama directed by Sudha Kongara, has been drawing attention ever since its theatrical release earlier this year. Set against a politically charged backdrop, the film explores a tough phase in Tamil Nadu’s history and places its lead character at the centre of a powerful social movement. Released in cinemas on January 9 after facing last-minute clearance issues with the censor board, Parasakthi generated curiosity but eventually received a mixed response from audiences and critics. Now, the movie is gearing up for its digital debut.

Despite the divided opinions, the film stood out for its ambition and subject matter. Sudha Kongara, known for blending strong emotions with socio-political themes, attempts to revisit the 1950s Madras Presidency. Sivakarthikeyan’s casting in a serious, politically rooted role also marked a notable shift from his largely commercial outings.

After completing its theatrical run, Parasakthi is now gearing up for its digital premiere. According to OTTplay and 123Telugu reports, the film is set to stream on ZEE5 from February 7, 2026. The makers are yet to officially confirm the release dates for dubbed versions in other languages, but reports suggest that the film will be made available in multiple languages at a later stage.



The narrative of Parasakthi unfolds during a period when the Union government’s push for Hindi faced stiff resistance in Tamil Nadu. Drawing inspiration from real-life events, the film focuses on student-led protests that erupted across the state. Sivakarthikeyan plays a character who becomes deeply involved in the movement.

Music for Parasakthi is composed by G V Prakash Kumar, and the film marks a milestone in his career as his 100th project as a music composer. It is also a special film for Sivakarthikeyan, being the 25th title of his acting journey. The project is produced by Dawn Pictures and underwent several changes before going on floors. Interestingly, the film was initially planned with Suriya in the lead, along with a different supporting cast, but was later reworked with a fresh lineup.
