Bluetooth is such a useful technology. Apart from data transfers and wireless music, it can also power trackers. Bluetooth range is quite limited, even compared with WiFi. So imagine our surprise when we found a Bluetooth tracker with the range of WiFi but with the efficiency and battery life of Bluetooth 5.0. Two types of trackers are available. One is thinner than the other — useful to place in a wallet or such small spaces. The other can be put on a keyring or attached to anything you want to protect (bag, camera or backpack). They weigh almost nothing. Both are powered by replaceable lithium coin batteries with a claimed battery life of 12 to 18 months.

To use them, you download the iOS or Android app and sign up. First scenario is if you want to locate something within the immediate area. Just open the app and make the tracker buzz. You can also find your way to the tracker using proximity tracking. Pickpocket mode will alert you if the device is separated from your phone. And it also works in reverse: double tap the button on your Seekit to locate your phone. Finally, it can also be your Bluetooth shutter remote for the camera. Range is about 100 feet and they're also IP65 rated to withstand the odd spash or rigours of regular travel. A small price to pay to secure something valuable.

Fitbit launched the Charge 2 last year and garnered great reviews from the media and consumers alike. Its successor was announced earlier this year but has not reached Indian shores. Why would you want it? It has a 40% larger display compared to the Charge 2 and it’s a touchscreen to boot! You get continuous heart rate tracking, swim tracking, fitness, sleep tracking along with smartphone notifications.
