'One of the greatest to have ever played the game': Kohli, Shastri wish Sachin Tendulkar on birthday

Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar rang in his 48th birthday at home, two weeks after he was discharged from the hospital where he had been admitted as a precautionary measure after testing positive for Covid-19.

Birthday tributes poured in for the God of cricket, who has scored a record 100 international centuries - 49 in One-day Internationals and 51 in Tests.

Former cricketer and Team India coach Ravi Shastri took to Twitter to wish the "Master", calling him a "living legend in the house."


"It’s been almost a decade since you quit the sport. Players, fans already realising the achievements & standards you have set and how difficult it is to beat leave alone come close. Living legend in the house," Shastri tweeted.


Team India skipper Virat Kohli called the master blaster "one of the greatest to have ever played the game."


Cricketer and Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant said Tendulkar's "passion for the game of cricket has inspired many generations."


Virender Sehwag and VVS Laxman also joined the sports fraternity in wishing their former teammate.



Former India pace bowler Venkatesh Prasad took to Twitter, posting pictures of some of the glorious moments he shared with the legend, and wrote, "Sach is truth, Sach is life, Sach is the answer, Sach is it. Birthday greetings to not only the greatest batsman the world has seen, but the most humble and incredible human being @sachin_rt. #HappyBirthdaySachin."


South star Mahesh Babu also wished the "the man who redefined cricket forever."


The batsman, sporting a pepper beard, posted a video to thank his everyone for the wishes.
