Onam 2022: Mammootty, Mohanlal, Manju Warrier don traditional attire, wish fans

Malayalis worldwide are celebrating Onam with fervour. Each year, Malayali homes are decked up in the hues of Onam. The festival brings together the vibrance and grandeur of God’s own country.

After celebrations were affected for nearly two years owing to the Covid-19 pandemic, Malayalis are celebrating Onam with renewed optimism and cheer. Streets across the state have been immersed in the shades of the harvest festival. This year Onam celebrations across Kerala have been nothing short of a spectacle. 'Pookalams' (floral rangoli), Onamkalli(games played during Onam), and ‘Onam Sadhya’ the traditional meal, are being celebrated across the world with gusto.

Every year, Onam is marked with big-ticket Malayalam film releases headlined by superstars Mohanlal, Mammootty, and others. However, this year the absence of big-ticket releases seems to have been mitigated by Mollywood stars donning traditional attire and wishing fans on social media.


Mammootty, Mohanlal, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Nivin Pauly, Manju Warrier, Ramya Nambeeshan, Kalyani Priyadarshan, and Asif Ali took to their social media platforms to wish their fans on Onam.

Mammootty, Manju Warrier, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Ramya Nambeeshan were also seen sporting traditional attire in their social media posts that were liked and shared by thousands of fans. Superstar Mohanlal shared a short video clip to wish his fans and Malayalis worldwide. Mohanlal also unveiled the posters of his upcoming films

Meanwhile, other stars from the Southern film industry took to their social media handles to wish their Malayali fans. Sai Pallavi, Rashmika Mandanna, and Karthi were seen wishing fans on their social media.Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Droupadi Murmu, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vinayan and several other leaders across the political spectrum extended their wishes. Business tycoon Anand Mahindra also greeted his millions of followers on the occassion.
