On the wrong foot: Thomas Archer Bata is not happy with ‘Jolly LLB 2’
In conversation with Thomas Archer Bata, CMO, Bata Group.

Obviously we weren’t happy about it. I think it’s a shame the whole thing happened because first of all, it’s bad manners — especially in a movie [Jolly LLB 2].

Someone’s personal opinion is up to them, but I think our brand has come a long way in terms of product. So, I don’t think it is an accurate statement. I am not happy about it, but I invite them to come and see for themselves.

There’s nothing like seeing, feeling and trying to change an opinion. The case [that the company filed against the movie’s team] is still under settlement and will be resolved.

If anything, this incident has been interesting as this is an old stereotype and, in many ways, it has allowed the public to challenge that stereotype. It at least starts a discussion, and I know many of our previous consumers have the same impression about us.

So, if it invites them to come back, then maybe some good will come out of it.”
