Obsession OTT release date in India: When and where to watch uncut version of Michael Johnston, Inde Navarrette’s highest-rated 2026 horror movie

Curry Barker’s horror film Obsession follows a young man whose attempt to make his crush fall in love with him leads to frightening consequences. Starring Michael Johnston and Inde Navarrette, the film combines supernatural horror with a story about obsession and unhealthy relationships. After its theatrical release, the film is now set for its OTT release in India.

Streaming details of Obsession uncut version in India

Obsession will premiere on OTT in India on JioHotstar on October 30. According to the streaming platform’s announcement, the film will be available from 7 PM onwards on its Peacock Hub. The release will include the original uncut version, along with a Hindi-dubbed option. The film was previously available on Prime Video in India on a rental basis.

The upcoming digital release is particularly significant for viewers who wanted to see the film without the cuts made for its theatrical version. Some audiences had expressed disappointment over scenes featuring gore being removed from the cinema release.

JioHotstar has announced that it will stream Obsession: The Original Uncut Version, allowing viewers to watch the horror film in its intended form. The Hindi-dubbed version will also give audiences who prefer watching films in Hindi another way to experience the story.

The film’s digital premiere comes nearly five months after its theatrical release in India. Until now, viewers looking to watch it online had the option of renting it on Prime Video rather than accessing it as part of a regular streaming subscription.

What is Obsession all about?

Written and directed by Curry Barker, Obsession follows Bear, played by Michael Johnston, a young man who wants his longtime crush, Nikki, to fall in love with him. Inde Navarrette plays Nikki in the film.

Bear comes across a mysterious object called the One Wish Willow, which promises to grant a wish. Hoping to change Nikki’s feelings towards him, he uses it to make her love him more than anything else in the world.

Initially, Bear appears to get exactly what he wanted. However, the situation soon becomes frightening as Nikki’s affection grows into something far more intense and disturbing than he expected. What begins as a story about unrequited love gradually turns into a psychological horror tale involving supernatural events, violence and chaos.

As the consequences of his wish become clear, Bear is forced to confront the danger of trying to control another person’s emotions. The film builds its horror around the gap between the affection he desires and the disturbing reality that follows.

Cast, themes and box-office performance

Alongside Michael Johnston and Inde Navarrette, the film features Cooper Tomlinson and Megan Lawless, among others. Barker uses the supernatural premise to explore themes that extend beyond conventional horror.

The film examines male entitlement, emotional manipulation, consent and unhealthy relationships. Its central conflict raises questions about whether love can be forced and what happens when a person refuses to respect another individual’s choices. Rather than relying only on frightening moments, the story uses Bear’s wish to explore the consequences of trying to control someone else.

Obsession also drew attention following its theatrical release for its reported box-office performance and profitability. It has been described as one of the notable horror releases of 2026.

With its uncut version arriving on JioHotstar, the film is set to reach a wider audience in India. Viewers can watch the story unfold from October 30 at 7 PM, with the choice of the original version or its Hindi dub.
