What is Hrithik Roshan’s role in Jailer 2?

Hrithik plays Roddy, who arrives to help Tiger Muthuvel Pandian when the latter finds himself in a difficult situation. Tiger faces a threat from Bodhi Kalpak, played by S. J. Suryah, and even his trusted allies, including Narasimha (Shiva Rajkumar), Mathew (Mohanlal) and Kamdev (Jackie Shroff), may struggle to get him out of trouble.

After a warning about the danger ahead, a phone call sets the stage for Roddy’s arrival. Hrithik makes a dramatic entry by driving through a wall to rescue Tiger, bringing his trademark screen presence to the action sequence.

However, the cameo is not limited to spectacle. Roddy reminds Tiger that he helped him around two decades earlier and that he has never forgotten the gesture.

He tells Tiger, "You might have forgotten what you’ve done for me. I’ll never forget. Anytime, anything for you, sir."

The exchange gives the character a personal connection with Tiger. Roddy is not simply a new ally who appears at the right moment; his arrival also serves as a way to repay a favour he has carried with him for years.

Another highlight comes when Hrithik flips his sunglasses while walking beside Rajinikanth. The gesture appears to pay tribute to the superstar’s iconic style, giving fans a moment that brings together two generations of screen charisma.

Roddy later returns when Tiger’s family is in danger. Hrithik sports a different look, featuring a workman’s jumpsuit, a new hairstyle and piercings. He leads a group of four women, including Bani, as they join the action.

The cameo also has a nostalgic connection. For the unversed, Hrithik and Rajinikanth previously appeared together in Bhagwaan Dada (1986), when Hrithik was a child actor. He played the foster son of Rajinikanth’s character, making their appearance together in Jailer 2 a reunion after four decades.

Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, Jailer 2 follows the success of the 2023 original and brings Rajinikanth back as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian.
