Gaurav Khatri says working out is a great way to remain young.
Fitness is very dear to Gaurav Khatri, co-founder of Noise. He also tries to keep mental health up and spiritual well-being on point in his daily life.

Body
"I truly believe that keeping your body healthy is the first step to a healthy life. I try to get in the right amount of exercise every day, followed by a healthy diet. Any opportunities to play sports, I seize. Getting an appropriate amount of rest through the week is essential to round off my daily fitness efforts. I usually prefer working out early every morning. Half an hour to 45 minutes is ample time for me to kick start my days with vigour. I go for a mixture of cardio and heavy lifting to have a balanced, well rounded session."

Food mix
"I prefer leaning towards nutrient heavy foods such as fresh fruits and veggies, whole grains, nuts and lean proteins. That’s where I end up getting most of my daily calories from. I generally refrain from baked and processed foods, which provide ‘empty calories’ with little nutritional value."

Mind
"There are a number of ways to keep the mind young and healthy. Apart from good nutrition and exercise, I take to listening to music which calms me down and helps me focus on my thoughts. I stand by the thought that every once in a while we need to tone down all sounds surrounding us and listen to our inner noise, and I do just the same by plugging-in my headphones and try to focus on my thoughts. Yoga and meditation are something I like to take up during the weekends to unwind."

Mind food
"Certain foods that I prefer to bolster brain function include berries, dark chocolate, coffee, eggs, peanuts and whole grains. These foods can be anti-oxidising, while being a rich source of omega-3 fatty acids. Whole grains such as brown rice and oatmeal are great sources to stack up on vitamin E."

Soul
"Since I am a strong believer of a healthy soul being a consequence of a healthy body, working out is a great way to remain young and in good spirits. Additionally, striking good relationships with the people that I associate with on the daily basis really is a great feel good factor for the soul. Always keeping the positive vibe on and trying to do good in whatever way possible be it a small gesture or a great contribution is something that I trust is something that keeps your mind and soul at peace."

“I decided to use this opportunity to improve my physical conditioning. I started cycling (after more than 40 years) inside my gated community from mid-April. I went from seven kilometres per ride to 20 kilometres by the end of June. Recently, I did a 52-kilometre ride to Chikka Tirupathi [on the outskirts of Bengaluru]. Cycling has had a huge impact, not just on my physical conditioning but also my confidence.”

“Startups are quite demanding, so I’ve never been able to work out more than three days a week, even when I trained for the Ironman Triathlon. So, when the lockdown was announced, I decided to challenge myself with a ‘consistency goal’ of accomplishing a workout a day. It began with coordinated workouts on Zoom with my friends and as restrictions eased, I started going for outdoor runs. There were days when there would be so many calls that I’d be seen climbing the building stairs at 10 pm. I now have more than 100 days of workouts under my belt and it has been the biggest stressbuster.”

“During the lockdown, I have managed to master single-leg burpees. It’s important to have a defined schedule and stick to it. I ensure that I block out some time during the day for exercise. I work out at home daily with various bodyweight exercises — I do pushups, burpees and air squats. I love doing CrossFit and high-intensity interval training that combines weightlifting, aerobics, powerlifting and gymnastics.”
