No more incoherent audio notes. WhatsApp now allows voice message previews

Meta-owned WhatsApp has launched its new ‘Voice Message Preview’ feature. Now, users can review their voice messages before sending them. The new feature aims to offer greater ease of use and enable users to send audio messages with confidence.

"Voice Messages are one of the most popular features for WhatsApp users worldwide. They bring you closer to friends and family than a text message and unlike a call, give you the freedom to message -- and for them to listen -- when it is most convenient," the company said in a statement.

According to the support page on whatsapp.com users can try the feature in individual or group chats. One needs to tap on the microphone icon then slide up to lock hands-free recording and start speaking. Once finished they can tap the stop icon, and play to listen to the recording. Users can tap on any specific timestamp on the recording to listen to specific bits. Later, a user can either click the trash can to delete the audio message or tap the send icon to push it out.


Meanwhile, the company has recently brought in a new privacy update to prevent unknown contacts from seeing a user's last seen and online status. This new feature has been reportedly rolled out for both Android and iOS-enabled devices.

WhatsApp is wildly popular in India with a user base of over 500 million, and the number is growing with each passing day. The messaging service has been rolling out features continually offering a dynamic user experience. Recently, it rolled out ride-booking in collaboration with Uber . The partnership allows users access to Uber's service via WhatsApp chatbot, and is currently operational in Lucknow.
