Who doesn’t love desserts? Be it sudden cravings or the desire to eat pastries after a good meal, sweet treats often feel impossible to resist. But they come loaded with calories, which can contribute to excessive calorie intake. But fret not, as Mumbai chef Guntas Sethi has come up with a guilt-free option. She has shared the recipe for a high-protein chocolate mousse that you can enjoy without worrying about calories. What’s more, celebrity nutritionist and integrative lifestyle expert Luke Coutinho has also given a nod to the recipe.

Luke Coutinho revealed that the chocolate mousse is devoid of artificial flavours, refined sugar, and heavy cream. It’s made from ripe bananas, and you can easily prepare one at home.

Chocolate mousse: Ingredients required

You will need 1 ripe banana or ½ an avocado for a low-glycemic, ultra-creamy base, 2 tbsp of raw cacao powder, and 1 tbsp of nut, almond or peanut butter. Apart from that, you have to add a splash of any milk of your choice for blending, and 2 tbsp sattu aka roasted chana flour or ½ cup thick Greek yoghurt for protein. Remember to sprinkle a tiny pinch of sea salt for garnishing.

Chocolate mousse: How to make

To prepare the chocolate mousse, add the ripe banana, raw cacao powder, nut butter and a splash of milk to a blender. Mix everything until completely smooth and creamy, ensuring there are no lumps. Raw cacao gives the mousse a rich chocolate flavour, while the banana creates a naturally creamy base.

Next, add either sattu or thick Greek yoghurt to the blended mixture and pulse until the protein-rich ingredient is fully incorporated. Sattu, aka roasted chana flour, adds plant-based protein and fibre, while Greek yoghurt lends a thick and creamy consistency.

Once the mixture reaches a smooth consistency, pour it into glass or small serving bowls. Refrigerate for around 20-30 minutes to allow the mousse to chill and firm up slightly.

Before serving, add a pinch of sea salt on top, as it can enhance the chocolate flavour and balance the natural sweetness of the banana with the rich notes of cacao. As per Luke Coutinho, the chocolate mousse is packed with only 230 calories, with 10g protein, 12 g fats, and 22 g of complex carbohydrates
