Yami Gautam’s journey into motherhood has been a delicate balance of love, responsibility, and her career. The actress and Dhurandhar director Aditya Dhar welcomed their first child, son Vedavid, in 2024. Speaking with Humans of Bombay, Yami opened up about navigating pregnancy while shooting for Article 370 and returning to work nine months after giving birth. She credited her mother’s unwavering support for helping her overcome guilt, emphasising that having someone you trust provides emotional security, allowing working mothers to pursue their passions without compromise.

During her pregnancy, Yami admitted feeling anxious about continuing her film commitments. Her mother encouraged her to follow medical guidance and stay active in her work, offering reassurance that her career and personal happiness could coexist with motherhood. When she resumed shooting, her mother’s presence provided both practical help and emotional strength, creating a safe environment for Yami to balance professional responsibilities with caring for her child. This support highlighted the importance of a trusted family in a working mother’s life.

Yami also addressed the common guilt associated with working mothers, noting how difficult the emotion can be to navigate. Her mother’s advice reminded her that pursuing her career was not selfish but a continuation of her lifelong dedication and passion. She reflected on motherhood as a blessing that complements, rather than limits, personal aspirations, framing her experience as a harmonious integration of family, career, and self-fulfilment.
