Modi responds to Kohli's fitness challenge with yoga video; asks K'taka CM, TT player Manika Batra to join

The PM also nominated the "entire fraternity of brave IPS officers, especially those above 40 years" to join.

Twenty days after accepting Indian skipper Virat Kohli's fitness challenge on Twitter, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday shared his own fitness video.

Posting the video on his Twitter handle, Modi said, "Apart from Yoga, I walk on a track inspired by the Panchtatvas or 5 elements of nature - Prithvi, Jal, Agni, Vayu, Aakash. This is extremely refreshing and rejuvenating. I also practice breathing exercises."



He then went on to nominate Karnataka Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy and table tennis player Manika Batra for the 'Fitness Challenge', as part of 'Hum Fit Toh India Fit' campaign started by Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore.

The Prime Minister also nominated the "entire fraternity of brave IPS officers, especially those above 40 years" to be part of the fitness challenge.


Earlier on May 22, Rathore had started the movement by nominating Virat Kohli, Hrithik Roshan, and Saina Nehwal to join in.

The Indian cricket captain had in turn nominated PM Modi to be a part of the movement. Modi had accepted the challenge then and said he would soon share his own video.


The Prime Minister then took to Twitter to respond to Virat's challenge, writing, "Challenge accepted, Virat! I will be sharing my own #FitnessChallenge video soon. @imVkohli #HumFitTohIndiaFit."

Modi has been an advocate of the fitness and had even released a 3D-animated video of himself depicting the 'Trikonasana' posture.

The fitness movement has now gained momentum and gone viral with Bollywood, sports stars, India Inc, Ministers all joining in.

Former players Anshuman Gaekwad and Sudha Shah received the CK Nayudu Lifetime Achievement award.

The function was also attended by the Afghanistan national team which will take on India in their first ever Test match.
