Mittu Chandilya not going to Russia, but is rooting for Iceland this World Cup

Favourite World Cup moment
‘It has to be the World Cup 2014 semi-finals between Germany and Brazil. It was one of my favourite moments — surreal dominance by Germany.’


Favourite player
‘Cristiano Ronaldo for being the very definition of a striker — speed, agility, goal-scoring machine, incredible ball skills and ambitious. Also, Lionel Messi, one of the best generational talents, incredible with the ball and makes plays that make you go wow. And importantly, a fantastic team player who assists as much as he scores. Mo Salah has also had an incredible year and is in great form. He has carried Liverpool, and Egypt’s hopes are riding on him. Hope he is well enough to play.’

Plans for the 2018 World Cup
‘I’m not travelling for the World Cup this time. I am a big fan of Spain, Germany and Portugal.

Apart from them, I am rooting for Iceland who have a remarkably tightknit squad. Despite a very tough group of Croatia, Argentina and Nigeria, it would be amazing to see this small country do well in their World Cup debut.’
