The Maximum City on Monday witnessed severe water logging in many parts of the city after it was battered with heavy showers overnight. Residents struggled to reach safety after Mumbai's local train services, traffic and other activities were hit due to rainfall. Among those stuck was musician Mika Singh, who found himself in a pickle after his car broke down on Sunday night amid heavy downpour.
But living up to the city's ultimate spirit of never giving up and always coming to the rescue of those in distress, Mumbai delivered as hundreds of people gathered to help Singh. As soon as onlookers spotted Singh's SUV -- a Hummer -- stuck in rain, a crowd gathered to help. Singh, accompanied by actress and model Akanksha Puri, expressed gratitude towards the crowd in a short video clip that has now gone viral.
In the clip, we hear a man saying that the crowd showed up to the ‘Laila’ singer's rescue after his car broke down at 3 am on Sunday amid heavy rain in Mumbai.
"Our car has broken down but there are close to 200 people here who have come to help us out," Singh is heard saying in the video. According to reports, the singer was returning from a wedding when the incident happened.
In the viral post, many pointed out that the singer was seen driving around without a mask, along with the crowd that had gathered around to help his car get through. People also questioned why Singh was out at 3 am despite there being strict Covid rules restricting night movements amid rising coronavirus cases in the state.
