In video gone viral, woman sings 'there's more to Indian food than curry', netizens say 'thank you'

Indian cuisine is as diverse as its vast culture, but to the West, it somehow synonyms with 'curry'. Despite there being varieties of recipes and delicacies, Indian cuisine being 'just about curries' in one stereotype that makes Indians everywhere roll their eyes.

Now a video clip by a digital content creator mocking the same stereotype in a quirky musical way has gone viral on the internet.

Sanaea Bubber, who has over 32k followers on Instagram, recently shared a video where she is singing a song about how there is more to Indian food than just 'curries'. She then goes on to list different foods suchas samosas, parathas, idli & dosa and more


"Can we please cancel the word curry while speaking of cuisines from the Indian subcontinent, thanks," she wrote in the caption.

Soon the song went viral with several people reposting it across all social media platforms, including international star Priyanka Chopra Jonas, who gave Bubber a shoutout on Instagram. "Was thinking of Indian food on set today and came across this! Preach girl! Also, now I'm hungry," the actress wrote.

Originally posted on July 19, the song so far has over 30k likes on Instagram. Many Indians from different parts of the world took to comment section of the post to applaud Bubber, saying that they find the song "relatable".

"This is hilarious! I recently learned curry powder is actually used in Jamaican food. All of the Internet points to it being an Indian spice mix though," wrote a user with handle name lasha_91.

"*Curry powder doesn't exist.* Thank you. Thank you. I rest my case," another user by handle name emrys_the_great wrote, agreeing with the song's lyrics.
