Yash Miglani shares his fitness routine that makes his body and mind healthy amidst the pandemic.
Yash Miglani, MD, Migsun Group makes sure to not miss his workouts, as keeping the mind and body healthy is very important.

He told ET Panache, "Usually, I get up in the morning at around 6:30 am, run for about 5-6km, then I come back and do some exercises like lunges, crunches push-ups squats, and more. In the evening, I usually try to relax and just go for cycling or swimming."

It takes about two hours and 45 minutes for Miglani's whole exercise regimen, and he usually, prefers to workout in the morning.

"Amongst all, I think running is the best exercise that engages your whole body, I always make sure to run for about 5-6km atleast. Along with working out, eating healthy is also very important. Since 180 days, I am on a gluten-free diet that involves intake of lots of fruits and vegetables and the absence of any kinds of carbs, which has helped to be fit and more energetic throughout the day," he said.

Being a vegetarian is a blessing in itself, feels Miglani. "I have not eaten any non-vegetarian food for the last six years which has helped me increase my metabolism and given me a positive approach in life. Other than that I think anything that relaxes your mind would be healthy whether its meditation or going for a swim," he said.

As far as the lockdown is concerned Miglani takes every situation as an opportunity. "We’ve been working hard throughout this time and have been doing tremendous sales in the market. Till now, we’ve already achieved Rs 250 crores of sales and also have launched a new campaign as well. And, we are working towards achieving more," he ended.

“I decided to use this opportunity to improve my physical conditioning. I started cycling (after more than 40 years) inside my gated community from mid-April. I went from seven kilometres per ride to 20 kilometres by the end of June. Recently, I did a 52-kilometre ride to Chikka Tirupathi [on the outskirts of Bengaluru]. Cycling has had a huge impact, not just on my physical conditioning but also my confidence.”

“Startups are quite demanding, so I’ve never been able to work out more than three days a week, even when I trained for the Ironman Triathlon. So, when the lockdown was announced, I decided to challenge myself with a ‘consistency goal’ of accomplishing a workout a day. It began with coordinated workouts on Zoom with my friends and as restrictions eased, I started going for outdoor runs. There were days when there would be so many calls that I’d be seen climbing the building stairs at 10 pm. I now have more than 100 days of workouts under my belt and it has been the biggest stressbuster.”

“During the lockdown, I have managed to master single-leg burpees. It’s important to have a defined schedule and stick to it. I ensure that I block out some time during the day for exercise. I work out at home daily with various bodyweight exercises — I do pushups, burpees and air squats. I love doing CrossFit and high-intensity interval training that combines weightlifting, aerobics, powerlifting and gymnastics.”
