Mid-week motivation: Anand Mahindra proud to see India lead with world's highest share of female pilots

For anyone who is looking for some mid-week motivation, industrialist Anand Mahindra may have some answers. The 67-year-old business tycoon, who is known for sharing his unique perspectives on current affairs, took to his Twitter account to share interesting statistics with his 9.9 million followers.

The Mahindra boss shared a list of countries with the highest share of female pilots in the world in 2021. And, India has been ranked number 1 with the highest share of female pilots at 12.4 per cent in the world.

Mahindra shared the tweet as a mid-week ‘josh’ to his followers. “Looking for something to provide mid-week 'josh?' Then check this out. Hello world, this is Nari Shakti at work," wrote Mahindra in his tweet.

In its share of female commercial pilots, India has surpassed many developing countries. India is followed by Ireland at 9.9 per cent, South Africa at 9.8, Australia at 7.5, Canada at 7.0, Germany at 6.9, the USA at 5.5, etc. Singapore has the least share of female commercial pilots in the world at 1.0 per cent.

This is not the first time that the industrialist mentioned women pilots. He has hailed their accomplishments and records over the years in numerous tweets.

Earlier this year, when India’s first woman Rafale fighter jet pilot Shivangi Singh took part in the Indian Air Force tableau on the 73rd Republic Day parade, Mahindra hailed the pilot as ‘Rafale Rani’.
In January 2021, when an all-woman Air India cockpit flew from San Francisco to Bengaluru, Mahindra took to his Twitter account to laud the women pilots for their unique feat. The Mahindra Group boss said that he plans to tell his three-year-old grandson, who loves planes, about the crew - Capt Zoya Aggarwal, Capt Papagari Thanmai, Capt Akansha Sonaware and Capt Shivani Manhas.
In his tweet, Mahindra said that he wants his grandson to know that women are ‘ as much capable of stamina, endurance, and fearlessness as men’.
