The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. In this case, from the basket.

LeBron James’s first born, Bronny, is showing people there is more than one guy in the James household who can shoot hoops. The 14-year-old Bronny, at 6'2", is just six inches shorter than his father, and was eagerly watched at the recent Peach Jam tournament in South Carolina, an important junior event where talent scouts identify future stars. “Definitely a Division I player,” said Paul Biancardi, a recruiting analyst and a former college coach. Bronny has already received offers from Division I teams.

His famous father is no passive spectator. Recently, crowds were treated to a show when LeBron, 34, joined the boys’ warm-up and shot some spectacular slam dunks. On another occasion, he cheered so hard for his son’s team that a sneaker came off his foot. Some saw these gestures as childish and over the top. But for the most part, fans are thrilled at the latest chapter in basketball genetics. They are even hoping father and son can one day play in the same team.

I was charged with dissent for having a prolonged discussion with the umpires out in the middle. Looking back at it last night I realised that it didn’t look good,” Ponting later said in interviews.
