How Satnam Singh's father inspired him to take up basketball
Singh is the first Indian player to be drafted into the National Basketball Association.

This seven-feet tall basketball player from Punjab shot to fame when he became the first Indian player to be drafted into the National Basketball Association. And while Satnam Singh now plays for the Canadian team St John’s Edge, he credits his ‘never look back attitude’ to his father.
“I remember we were standing in our farm when I was six years old when my father told me , ‘I love this land which is why it has given me so much. You find your passion and it will give you just as much,’” he said.
These words stuck with Singh right from that day to when he first picked up a basketball. “Honestly, there is no limit to how you can impact someone’s life. When people look at me, I try to be an inspiration for them. The sky is the limit for me,” he says with a laugh.
