South OTT releases of the week
The OTT lineup this week has plenty for fans of South Indian cinema. From a sports drama built around traditional boat racing to investigative thrillers, relationship dramas and a big-scale action story, several Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu titles are making their digital debut. There is also a psychological thriller and a new comedy-drama series to add to the watchlist. If you have been waiting for some of these films after their theatrical runs, this could be a busy week on streaming.

Latest South OTT releases of the week

Mandaadi - Netflix

Soori’s Mandaadi brings sports, rivalry and the life of a coastal community together in a Tamil action drama. Directed by Mathimaran Pugazhendhi, the film centres on traditional sailboat racing and follows Muthukaali, a skilled boat racer caught up in an old rivalry. Soori plays Muthukaali, while Suhas plays his rival. Mahima Nambiar, Sathyaraj and Ravindra Vijay are also part of the cast. Mandaadi will release on Netflix on October 8 and will be available in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada and Malayalam.


Pradhama Drishtiya Kuttakkar - Netflix

Parvathy Thiruvothu takes on a police role for the first time with Pradhama Drishtiya Kuttakkar. Directed by Shahad, the Malayalam investigative thriller follows a woman constable as she deals with the pressures of her profession and the challenges that emerge during her work. Mathew Thomas, Vijayaraghavan, Sidharth Bharathan and Unnimaya Prasad also feature in the film. Pradhama Drishtiya Kuttakkar will premiere on Netflix on October 9 in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi.

Least Eligible Bachelor - ETVWin

Not every story about marriage needs to be a serious family drama. Least Eligible Bachelor takes a more comic look at the pressure faced by a middle-class young man who is constantly pushed by his family and society to settle down. His personality and circumstances make finding the right match even more difficult, leading to a story about relationships, expectations and family pressure. Harsha Chemudu, Hyper Aadi, Aishwarya Holakkal and Jeevan Kumar star in the Telugu comedy-drama series, which is directed by Babu Degala. Least Eligible Bachelor will begin streaming on ETVWin on October 9.

Epic – First Semester - Netflix

Anand Deverakonda and Vaishnavi Chaitanya reunite after Baby for Epic – First Semester, a Telugu romantic drama about education, relationships and finding independence away from home. The film follows Aditya, a middle-class young man who moves to London while trying to balance his own dreams with his parents’ expectations about his future. There, he meets Kadali, an independent student who becomes an important part of his new life. Directed by debutant Aditya Haasan, the film features Anand Deverakonda and Vaishnavi Chaitanya in the lead roles, with music by Hesham Abdul Wahab. Epic – First Semester is scheduled to arrive on Netflix on October 9 in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi.

Eyes - SonyLIV

Eyes takes the OTT lineup into darker territory with a psychological thriller about stalking and harassment. Directed by Manu Ashokan, the Malayalam series follows Tina Sebastian, a determined officer investigating disturbing cases involving women being secretly watched and targeted. As she studies the behaviour behind these incidents, she begins to notice a larger pattern. Kani Kusruti leads the series alongside Shruti Ramachandran, Nikhila Vimal, Saniya Iyappan and Dev Mohan. Eyes will start streaming on SonyLIV on October 9.

Khalifa: The Ruler - Prime Video, Simply South, ManoramaMAX and Aha Video

Prithviraj Sukumaran steps into a more intense world with Vysakh’s Malayalam action thriller Khalifa: The Ruler. The film follows Aamir Ali, a textile shop owner in Kozhikode whose peaceful life changes after his father is framed in a major gold-trade case. His search for answers eventually leads him to the story of his estranged grandfather, a feared figure whose past forces Aamir to make difficult choices.

Prithviraj Sukumaran leads the film, with Neil Nitin Mukesh, Malvika Sharma, Shammi Thilakan, Indrans and Renji Panicker also part of the cast. Mohanlal, Tovino Thomas and Soubin Shahir make cameo appearances. Khalifa: The Ruler is scheduled to stream from October 9 on Prime Video, Simply South, ManoramaMAX and Aha Video.
