Maareesan OTT release date: When and where to watch Fahadh Faasil, Vadivelu's Tamil thriller

After working together in the hit film Maamannan, renowned stars Vadivelu and Fahadh Faasil were back on screen together in the latest film titled Maareesan. This Tamil slow-burn thriller is directed by Sudheesh Sankar and produced by Super Good Films. The film is extra special because it was the 100th production from this well-known banner. The makers have now officially announced the OTT release date of the film.

Maareesan OTT release locked

Today (August 17), the makers announced that Maareesan will be released on Netflix on August 22. It will be streaming in all languages, including Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. Take a look at official announcement:



For the unversed, Maareesan is a slow-burn thriller that tells the story of two very different individuals, an elderly man suffering from Alzheimer’s and a petty thief. The two embark on a road trip together, but as the journey progresses, it becomes clear that both are hiding secrets. Vadivelu plays the role of the Alzheimer’s patient, while Fahadh Faasil takes on the role of the thief.


According to Sacnilk report, the Tamil thriller opened on a decent note at the box office and minted Rs 7.25 crore in India.

Directed by Sudheesh Sankar, who is known for his work in Malayalam television, Maareesan marks his entry into Tamil cinema. The music for the film is composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, known for his ability to bring emotional depth and suspense through his scores. The cinematography is handled by Kalaiselvan Sivaji, while Sreejith Sarang takes care of the editing.

The film also features an impressive supporting cast, including Kovai Sarala, Vivek Prasanna, Sithara, PL Thenappan, Livingston, Renuka, Saravana Subbiah, Krishna, Haritha, and Telephone Raja.

The story, screenplay, and dialogues have been written by V Krishna Moorthy, who also serves as the creative director of the film.
