New South OTT releases of the week

Oru Durooha Saahacharyathil – Netflix
The Malayalam psychological crime thriller started streaming on Netflix from May 13, 2026. Directed by Ratheesh Balakrishnan Poduval, the film revolves around Sethu, a timid health centre worker living in Wayanad whose life takes a dark turn after a mysterious stranger enters his home.


The film mixes suspense, mystery and emotional drama while slowly unfolding the secrets surrounding the stranger’s arrival. Kunchacko Boban leads the cast, while Sajin Gopu and Chidambaram S. Poduval also play important roles. The movie has been produced by Magic Frames and Udaya Pictures.



EXAM: The System Exposed – Amazon Prime Video
Tamil viewers can look forward to this suspense drama series premiering on Prime Video on May 15. The seven-episode show explores the dark world of corruption and examination scams, focusing on a woman who uncovers an RPSE paper leak racket.

Directed by National Award-winning filmmaker A. Sarkunam, the series stars Dushara Vijayan, Aditi Balan, Abbas and Vasundhara Kashyap in key roles. The series is expected to combine suspense with social commentary, making it one of the major Tamil OTT releases of the week.

Thimmarajupalli TV – Aha
Actor Kiran Abbavaram stepped into production with this rural entertainer, which will begin streaming on Aha from May 15. Interestingly, the film introduced nearly 50 new faces to the industry.

Directed by V. Muniraju, the movie features Sai Tej, Vedha Jalandharr, Pradeep Kotte, Swathi Karimireddy, Amma Ramesh, Satyanarayana and Lathish in lead roles. The film promises a mix of village drama, humour and emotional moments.

Kaalidas 2 – Prime Video, Sun NXT, Aha
The sequel to the 2019 detective thriller Kaalidas is now available on multiple OTT platforms including Prime Video, Sun NXT and Aha from May 12. Directed by Sri Senthil, the crime thriller once again follows Inspector Kaalidas as he investigates another complicated case. The film features Prakash Raj, Kishore, Anant Nag, Ajay Karthi, Sangita Madhavan Nair and Bhavani Sre in important roles.



Vaazha II: Biopic of a Billion Bros – JioHotstar
After becoming a major box office success, the Malayalam comedy-drama sequel began streaming on JioHotstar on May 8, 2026.

The film is available in multiple languages including Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada, helping it reach a wider audience across India. Packed with humour, friendship and emotional moments, the movie continues the entertaining journey that made the first part popular among young viewers.

Mr X - JioHotstar
Mr X, starring Arya and directed by Manu Anand, is a Kollywood spy action thriller that failed to make a strong impact at the box office after its theatrical release. The film will begin streaming on JioHotstar from May 14 in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. Apart from Arya, the movie also features Gautham Karthik, R. Sarathkumar, Manju Warrier, Athulya Ravi, Anagha, Raiza Wilson, Jayaprakash, and Kaali Venkat in key roles, while the film has been produced by Prince Pictures and Maverick Movies Pvt Ltd.
