The upcoming Tamil film Kenatha Kanom is gearing up for its theatrical release with a story that blends humour with social commentary. The film revolves around a drought-hit village where residents are struggling to deal with severe water shortage. In a desperate attempt to solve their problem, the villagers decide to dig a well. However, what begins as a simple effort to find water soon turns into an unexpected situation when they discover dinosaur fossils underground. The unusual discovery draws sudden attention to the village and sets off a series of chaotic events.

Streaming details of Kentha Kanom

After its theatrical run, Kenatha Kanom will be available to stream on JioHotstar. The platform had earlier announced the film as part of its Tamil content slate for 2026. While the film will first arrive in theatres on March 13, viewers can expect it to make its way to the streaming service later.

The film stars Yogi Babu in the lead role as a temple priest who finds himself at the centre of the unexpected crisis. His character tries to manage the confusion caused by the discovery while also standing up for the villagers’ interests.

When authorities step in after the fossils are found, the situation becomes even more complicated. The archaeological department takes control of the site, creating tension among the villagers who worry about losing control of their land and their way of life.

As the story unfolds, the priest attempts to balance humour and responsibility while going through bureaucratic hurdles. The narrative also states the struggles of rural communities, especially those facing drought and water scarcity. At the same time, the film presents these issues in a light-hearted manner, using comedy to explore deeper themes about governance, identity, and survival in villages across Tamil Nadu.
