Kapoor clan bond at annual Christmas lunch, lovebirds Ranbir and Alia give it a miss

An annual Christmas lunch is a long-standing tradition in the Kapoor clan. While Shashi Kapoor hosted grand Christmas lunch parties in the yesteryears, his son Kunal has kept the tradition going after his death. For the last few years, the Kapoor khandaan has gathered at Kunal’s house to make merry and celebrate the occasion. This year too, things were no different, although Ranbir Kapoor and his mother, Neetu Singh were missing from the scene.

Alia Bhatt, who had been Ranbir’s plus-one at the Kapoors’ annual Christmas lunches for the past two years, also gave the party a miss. Last year, the actress had worn a ‘Mrs Claus’ hat at the party, which became quite a hit among the netizens. A media report claims that although Ranbir and Neetu skipped the family get-together, they were spotted attending a celebratory dinner party at Alia Bhatt’s house on Christmas eve this year.

Despite a few familiar faces missing from the party, Kapoors’ Christmas lunch was still a star-studded affair, with Kareena, Karisma, Saif Ali Khan, Tara Sutaria, Armaan and Aadar Jain, as well as Navya Naveli Nanda in attendance. The occasion was more special for the Kapoors because Kareena recently recovered from Covid, and this was one of her first outings after her Covid isolation ended. The kids - Taimur and Samiera Kapoor (Karisma’s Daughter) - were also at the party.

Karisma and Armaan shared several photos and videos of their lunch gathering. In one of the family photos, shared by Jain on Instagram, the Kapoors are seen gathered around the dining table. Shammi Kapoor’s wife, Neila Devi, Rima Jain and other elderly members of the family are seated at the table, while the younger Kapoors and extended family members are seen standing behind them. Jain captioned the photo, ‘Merry Christmas!’

Karisma also shared a video of Kunal Kapoor with a fiery Christmas cake, with Taimur watching the cake on fire and clapping, and his mother, Kareena showering kisses on him. Karisma captioned the video, “Flames with the fam!"
