'Roar of the Lion' will see Dhoni reveal a secret about himself.
It's always cricket season in India, but with the Indian Premier League (IPL) almost here, the sporting fervour is at an all-time high. As the eight teams get ready to play it out in the twelfth season of the league, and the battles spill over beyond the pitch to friends in front of TV screens, there's a lot more cricket to consume.

Ahead of IPL 2019, streaming platform Hotstar has announced a docu-drama on former India skipper and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni. Titled 'Roar of the Lion', it will see one of the country's most loved player reveal a secret about himself.

Giving further details about the show, the official synopsis on the website says, “Called MSD, Mahi, Captain Cool, Thala and more by the billions of fans that cheer him on and off the field, MSD’s story is known to all. Or so you think! He has another story to tell, one that not even his closest friends know. What is it all about? His toughest moment as a sportsman, cricketer, captain, husband, father or more?”

The show goes on air on March 20 and is just what you need to whet your appetite before the league's inaugural match three days later that incidentally will see CSK clashing with Royal Challengers Bangalore.

And meanwhile, Netflix takes viewers right to the centre of all the drama with its sports documentary that has Mumbai Indians as the focus. ‘Cricket Fever: Mumbai Indians’ follows the journey of the team as they try to defend their 2017 IPL crown.

The 8 gripping episodes feature Rohit Sharma, Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar, Mahela Jayawardene among others. The docu also stars team owner Nita Ambani and her eldest son Akash - who is tying the knot this weekend - in the pit and deliberating with the players. From the auction to the dressing room to the confidential meetings with the big decisions, this high-energy documentary shows fans what it takes to be a team amid all the pressure.

But if these aren't enough to satiate the cricket fan in you, and you truly believe in 'nothing as too much cricket', there's always the option of rewinding to 'Sachin: A Billion Dreams', '2 Nations, 1 Obsession' - that explores the rivalry between India and Australia and the differences in culture linked to the game, and 'Death of a Gentleman' - the 2015 documentary that digs into the wrongdoings of Cricket Australia (CA), England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
