Travel plans I am looking forward to travelling again. Not just because I love to travel but for a lot of pent-up work related matters. Even if you have spent more than eight months with family inside the house during lockdown, going on a holiday is much more memorable. A trip to Dharamshala is on the cards; though Ladakh is a close second too.
Flex appeal
I can’t wait to go back to the gym religiously. The strain of endless video meetings while working from can only be dealt with a good stint at the gym. It also gives me a decent round of morning motivation and prepares me for my day. While I was only following casual cardio workouts at home during the lockdown, I have now started following a strict morning walk regimen – 6km, 5 times a week, early in the morning.
Food matters I look forward to heading out and eating street food. Having spent a large part of my childhood at Pandara Road, New Delhi, which is apparently the home of the iconic Prabhu Chaat Wala, my taste buds have been badly missing the street food. I am looking forward to the day I will be able to have a sev-puri from our nearby street seller.

My fondness for shopping has increased manifold over the years, thanks to my daughters. I have to pick my favourite shopping destination, it has to be Dubai. The range and variety of brands, and the exuberance evident in the malls of Dubai is something much similar to the Indian malls, which make me feel at home.
Click bait I have wanted to take up photography as a hobby. If I was able to buy a camera before the lockdown, I would have been able to carry out all the research and undertake learning sessions that an amateur photographer would do. I could also have captured the family time during lockdown through my lenses. I still have my eyes set on a Canon SLR.
Level up I have become a huge guitar fan during lockdown. Even if I ended my day late in the evening, I always made it a point that I did my online tutorials for some time. It not only gave me a chance to pursue a new interest, it also helped me rewind and wrap up my day on a musical note, and it really worked.

Tech update I have become a pro at Zoom and Teams, as far as tech applications are concerned. From a devices perspective, I was pretty much comfortable with my laptop and AirPods. A HomePod might have added some liveliness to my work settings.

“I decided to use this opportunity to improve my physical conditioning. I started cycling (after more than 40 years) inside my gated community from mid-April. I went from seven kilometres per ride to 20 kilometres by the end of June. Recently, I did a 52-kilometre ride to Chikka Tirupathi [on the outskirts of Bengaluru]. Cycling has had a huge impact, not just on my physical conditioning but also my confidence.”

“Startups are quite demanding, so I’ve never been able to work out more than three days a week, even when I trained for the Ironman Triathlon. So, when the lockdown was announced, I decided to challenge myself with a ‘consistency goal’ of accomplishing a workout a day. It began with coordinated workouts on Zoom with my friends and as restrictions eased, I started going for outdoor runs. There were days when there would be so many calls that I’d be seen climbing the building stairs at 10 pm. I now have more than 100 days of workouts under my belt and it has been the biggest stressbuster.”

“During the lockdown, I have managed to master single-leg burpees. It’s important to have a defined schedule and stick to it. I ensure that I block out some time during the day for exercise. I work out at home daily with various bodyweight exercises — I do pushups, burpees and air squats. I love doing CrossFit and high-intensity interval training that combines weightlifting, aerobics, powerlifting and gymnastics.”
