Yuzvendra Chahal, who is now a part of the Royals franchisee, narrated the episode.
Yuzvendra Chahal hit flashback mode on Thursday. And it wasn't on-field antics that the player recalled but an unsettling episode that happened away from the cricket pitch, and taught him a life-changing lesson.
In a Twitter video hosted by the Rajasthan Royals, he went back in time to 2013 and spoke about his narrow escape while he was at the receiving end of a prank during his stint with the Mumbai Indians. Chahal, who is now a part of the Royals franchisee, narrated the episode when an inebriated player - whom he didn't name - dangled him from the 15th-floor balcony of a Bengaluru hotel.
"My story, some people know about. I have never spoken about this, I never shared this. In 2013, I was with the Mumbai Indians. We had a match in Bengaluru. There was a get-together after that. There was a player who was very drunk, I will not take his name. He was very drunk; he was looking at me and he just called me. He took me outside and he dangled me from the balcony," Chahal told fellow Royals Ravichander Ashwin and Karun Nair in the 6-minute-long video chat themed on 'Comeback Stories'.
Chahal, while going public about this nine years on, said that he was lucky to have had a narrow shave. And while the enormity of what had happened hit him and left him shaken, it also made him introspect about behaving responsibly in public places, he revealed.
"My hands were around him. Had I lost my grip, I was on the 15th floor. Suddenly many people who were there came and got the situation under control. I kind of fainted. They gave me water, then I realised how responsible you should be if you go out anywhere. So, this was one incident where I felt I made a narrow escape. Had there been the slightest of mistake, I would have fallen," he added.

Chahal played only one season of the Indian Premier League in the blue Mumbai Indians jersey in 2013. Incidentally, he just played one game for MI and was unable to take any wickets. The following year, he was picked up by the Royal Challengers Bangalore and was a part of the club for eight years.
Rajasthan Royals have won two matches in the ongoing season, losing against Chahal's old team, the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
