I have the best style, says chef Sergi Arola

Sergi Arola, the Michelin star chef, talks candidly about why he loves his own style yet admires Johnny Depp and Lenny Kravitz.

My style

I have had my own sense of style since I was 12 and it was quite wild. Even now, I make sure I wear what I want. I am my own boss and don't have to explain to anyone what I choose to wear. I don't care what people think of my style. However, I am respectful about the occasion I am dressing for.

Must-haves

Every man should own a good jacket. In addition to that, a pair of jeans for your body type is a must. T-shirts and boots are also a staple for your wardrobe. And a good watch — I like a solid leather strap.

Weekend style

I have no weekend! My week is Monday to Monday, so unfortunately, my weekend style is exactly the same. It is very casual. You will most likely find me in jeans, a tee and a jacket 99 per cent of the time. I pair this with sport shoes or boots. Prized possession I have a leather jacket which is 25 years old that I absolutely love. It's a Lewis Leathers jacket in black — is there any other colour? I have at least 50 leather jackets, 90 per cent are black while the rest are blue or brown.

Trend speak

I am not a big fan of colourful clothes. The only exception I have to bright colours is the red lining used in suits and jackets. That's the only colour I allow. I wear a lot of dark brown. I am a big fan of quality products – even for simple things like a pair of blue jeans. Quality is paramount.

Best style

I would have to say, me! However, I do love the style of Johnny Depp and David Beckham. But they are billionaires, so it is easy for them to be stylish. And usually, they have a stylist to put together their look for them. Also, I admire Lenny Kravitz — he's got flair.

Touches

The small things matter to a man's look. You will always find me wearing a silver bracelet from Chile. It was a present from my girlfriend.
