Superfan Gopikrishnan and his family in Arangur, Tamil Nadu have named their residence as the Home of Dhoni Fan.
Three-time Indian Premiere League champions, Chennai Super Kings (CSK), may have crashed out of IPL 2020, but the unwavering love and admiration of the fans for ace cricketer MS Dhoni, who recently announced his retirement from international cricket is not going anywhere, it seems.
Paying a heartfelt tribute to Dhoni, who is lovingly addressed as 'Thala' by his fans in the South, a die-hard fan of the former Indian cricket captain painted his house yellow. In what can be called a larger-than-life gesture, R. Gopikrishnan, a Dhoni fan and a Forex trader based in Dubai, made sure his house is shimmering in CSK colours.
Taking cognisance of the heartfelt gesture, the 39-year-old cricketer, expressed his gratitude towards Gopikrishnan and his entire family for the sweet gesture in an IGTV video posted by the official Instagram handle of CSK.
“I saw it on Instagram. I think it's a great gesture. At the same time, you can see that it's not only about me. They're the biggest fans of CSK as well," Dhoni said in the one-minute, twenty-four second video.
Lauding the efforts of the CSK fan, Dhoni added, "It is not something that can be done easily. You sit, you decide (the colour of the house)...the whole family needs to agree on that. This is something that would stay. This is not like an Instagram or a Twitter post where you post something and change it overnight. This is something that will stay."
Superfan Gopikrishnan and his family in Arangur, Tamil Nadu have named their residence as the Home of Dhoni Fan. If media reports are to be believed, Gopikrishnan spent Rs 1.5 lakh in getting his house painted in CSK hues.
Gopikrishnan had earlier expressed his disappointment at not being able to see his favourite cricketer live in stadium due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Gopikrishnan had asserted that he opted to paint his house in Super Kings colours to create positivity around the CSK fan base during these unprecedented times.
