HP Envy 15 review: Powerful performer at Rs 1.5 lakh

The minimalist approach and processor are pluses, but the device is heavy.

The work-from-home culture has come as a blessing for the laptop industry due to the sudden spurt in interest and demand. HP recently launched its flagship HP Envy 15 laptop to cater to this growing demand. The device comes equipped with the 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10750H processor, 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD storage.

HP Envy 15 offers a 15.6-inch borderless 4K OLED display that delivers good viewing experience. The display is bright and the colours are vibrant and sharp. HP has tried to keep the minimalist approach to the laptop's design and functionality. The laptop has an aluminium body with a silver coating that gives it a premium look. However, the laptop is heavy and its form factor makes it difficult to use when kept on the lap.


The new Envy has a basic keyboard design with aptly spaced keys for better typing. It supports a fingerprint sensor imbibed in the keyboard for security. The trackpad is smooth and quick.

The laptop's 10th Gen Intel Core i7 comes with the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060. Day-to-day work experience on the laptop was smooth without any complaints. HP Envy 15 laptop comes with a vapour chamber and two 12-volt fans to regulate the device's temperature. The chamber, along with HP Dynamic Power technology and IR thermopile sensor, is said to offer 33% more processor power over traditional heat-pipe design.

For wireless connectivity, the laptop is equipped with WiFi 6 along with Bluetooth version 5.0. It also comes with the HP QuickDrop wireless transfer feature. Other connectivity options available on the laptop are two Type-C ports, an HDMI port, one SD card slot beside the charging port on the left side. A 3.5mm headphone jack and an USB 3.0 slot are available on the right edge.
