‘He’s fired!’ Elon Musk sacks engineer who corrected his assessment on Twitter

Ever since billionaire Elon Musk acquired Twitter, there has been a flurry of developments. From announcing Twitter Blue – an $8 monthly subscription service – to sacking nearly 50 per cent of the staff, Musk has carried out some sweeping changes across Twitter.

Even before his Twitter acquisition, the Tesla boss has been known for his cavalier and often humorous tweets. But with that aside, who would have thought that Musk would go to the length of firing an employee on the microblogging site.

The 51-year-old took to his Twitter account on Monday to fire an engineer who reportedly questioned his assessment. On Sunday, Musk tweeted an apology for the microblogging site being slow in some countries. “Btw, I’d like to apologize for Twitter being super slow in many countries. App is doing >1000 poorly batched RPCs just to render a home timeline!” tweeted Musk.

Following his tweet, Eric Frohnhoefer, a developer who claimed that he had worked on Twitter for Android took to his Twitter account to say that the Tesla chief’s assessment was wrong. Musk later asked Eric what was the correct figure and what have the developers done to fix it.
Eric’s tweet triggered several reactions with many developers suggesting that he could have dropped a private message to Musk. To one of the tweets, Eric replied saying, “Maybe he (Musk) should ask questions privately. Maybe using Slack or email.”

Meanwhile, one of the users went on to tag Musk asking if he wanted the person with ‘this kind of attitude’ on your team. Without mincing his words, Musk was quick to respond. The ‘Chief Twit’ replied saying “He’s Fired.” To this Frohnhoefer tweeted a salute emoji.
Ever since, Musk became the new boss of Twitter he has introduced a slew of features such as USD 8 for verification, banning parody accounts, etc. However, most of these changes have backfired and Twitter has rolled back some of them.
