Woman found strength in love
According to a report by the Humans of Bombay, Khushboo Verma grew up in a loving home, under the care of her uncle and aunt, when her parents got separated when she was just 9 years old. They made her understand that family isn’t about who stays, but about who steps up. Cut to a few years later in 2019, Khushboo met her now-husband Chirag at college and fell in love with him, his passion, ambition and charm. The duo bonded over silly jokes, exam stress, and family problems, dating for nearly 7 years.
In 2022, when Khushboo Verma landed a decent job and Chirag ventured into an event management company, they felt stable and decided to get married. Both of their families agreed. But just 2 months before the wedding, Khushbo developed paralysis on one side of her face. She woke up one morning with a numb face, unable to blink, smile, or speak. Khushboo, shattered to her core, couldn’t stop thinking about how her would-be in-laws and Chirag would perceive her medical condition.
Groom’s affectionate words made bride cry
But Chirag, like a dotting partner, became Khusboo’s biggest pillar of strength, saying, ‘Tum theek ho jaogi. Apna din special hoga (You will be alright. Our wedding day will be special).’Even her uncle and aunt tried their best to console her, sitting with her for hours and trying to make her feel better. But Khushboo’s insecurity about her face intensified on the day of her wedding as she walked down the aisle with Chirag.
When Khusboo Verma asked Chirag whether she was looking odd, her partner gave the most reassuring and beautiful answer. He told her, ‘You have never looked more beautiful. You’re my bride. Forget them, just look at me.’ This made her weep uncontrollably, but also made her smile. That day, Khushboo realised that she might not have had a dream wedding due to her ‘crooked’ smile but she was certain that she had married the man of her dreams who wouldn’t leave her side no matter what. At present, she is receiving treatment and on a path to recovery.
