Running is not just an exercise, but also a great way to explore the city, says Jean Marc Pontroué, CEO, Officine Panerai.

Body
“Running is one of my favourite sports. I try to run four times a week — usually 12 km in under an hour. But of course, if it’s too hot, like in India, I can’t make such good time. The best part about running, for me, is that it is a very easy sport. You can do it anywhere — you just need your shoes. Another great thing about running is that you can really discover a city; you don’t see the city the same way when you’re driving.

Running

Fitness for me is like eating or breathing. If I don’t play some sport, I feel incomplete. In the last 30 years, I haven’t ever gone for more than one week without playing some sport. Apart from running, I take out my mountain bike, go skiing and also go to the gym. Exercise, for me, is my moment. I love fresh fruit juice too. I can actually feel the vitamins help my body.”

Soul

“The best thing for your soul is to find the right balance between work and life. Religion is a good way to find a sense of balance and connect spirituality. When I am in Europe, I cannot pass a church without going inside. I barely spend five minutes inside, but the environment is peaceful. I use this time to be by myself. I have these couple of moments that mean a lot to me.”

Mind
“Sport is a good way to relax, not only your body, but your mind too. I never feel better physically and mentally than when I go for a run. I also calm my mind by reading. I read a lot of newspapers and magazines. I have a special file where I save all the articles I want to read and I get to them whenever I have a free moment — on a flight or in the car. I share it with my team too as I am very much influenced by other industries too. Reading across various topics help keep the mind sharp.”
