An employee reveals how he got revenge on two exasperating co-workers during his notice period
A worker nearing the end of his tenure chose to make his final days count by formally addressing the mistreatment he says he endured for years. Sharing his experience on the Reddit community Anti Work, he explained that his resignation period had become the moment to confront two colleagues whose conduct, according to him, had crossed professional boundaries repeatedly.

He described the past two years as emotionally exhausting. The trouble, he said, began after he was selected for a transfer opportunity—an advancement his coworkers allegedly undermined. He believes they interfered in ways that ultimately derailed the move. From that point onward, he felt targeted. Even as he began transitioning his responsibilities before departure, he claimed the same colleagues attempted to pin mistakes on him and deflect accountability for their own errors.

According to his account, their hostility was not subtle. He alleged that raised voices and harsh tones became routine, creating an environment where aggression was normalized. Despite this, he felt unfairly labeled as difficult simply because he expected basic courtesy and professionalism in return.

He also revealed that he is autistic. While he said he had never felt out of place during previous roles in startup environments, he found corporate retail culture far less accepting. He expressed that he was singled out without justification, deepening his sense of isolation.

On his final stretch at the company, he decided to escalate the issue to the human resources department. He informed HR about the ongoing behavior and requested that his manager ensure those colleagues maintain professional conduct until his last working day.

Even after taking this step, he admitted to feeling conflicted. The common warning about damaging professional relationships lingered in his mind. Still, he reasoned that tolerating persistent bullying would only validate the behavior.

Online commenters rallied behind him. One user jokingly suggested responding to hostility the way one disciplines an unruly pet, while another argued that certain professional connections are not worth preserving if they are rooted in disrespect.

Handling workplace bullying calls for patience, composure, and a thoughtful approach. Begin by keeping a detailed account of each incident, noting the date, what occurred, and anyone who witnessed it. This documentation can serve as important proof if the issue escalates. Resist the urge to respond with anger; instead, remain professional and clearly establish your limits. When it feels safe to do so, calmly confront the individual and explain how their actions are affecting your performance and morale.

Lean on supportive colleagues so you don’t feel alone in the situation. Familiarize yourself with organizational policies and formally report repeated inappropriate behavior to a manager or HR, presenting your documented evidence. Safeguard your mental and emotional health by managing stress and believing in your capabilities. If the hostility continues unchecked, it may be wise to seek a more positive and respectful work environment.
