Success is often measured by a hefty salary, reputed job titles, and professional milestones. But more often than not, a fulfilling life can simply mean having freedom and control over your time. The rise of digital platforms has opened new avenues for people wishing to showcase their personal skills, build an audience, and explore alternative career paths beyond conventional workplace structures. Recently, a former data scientist, Saurabh, who used to work with Amazon, shared an insightful post on X, highlighting how a bold professional decision transformed his career and lifestyle for the better.

From Amazon job to online success

In his post, Saurabh shared that 3 years ago he took the ‘biggest risk of my life’ by quitting his high-paying Amazon job to write on the internet, aka the X platform. Initially, he had no clue how to make his presence known on the microblogging platform.

Neither did Saurabh have an audience, nor did he have any idea how to monetise his writing skills or experience. In the beginning, he barely saw any growth but continued to show up and post. Eventually, he got a grasp of the basics of digital writing, found his voice, and learned how X works.

How former Amazon employee achieved success

As per Saurabh, over the past 3 years, he has grown his X following to 10,000 and built an internet business that has crossed $200,000 in profit. He has also worked with more than 60 high-ticket clients across the world, helping generate over $500,000 in results while building a strong portfolio of case studies.

That’s not all. Saurabh claimed that several of his clients have gone on to cross monthly revenue milestones of $5,000 and $10,000, with some eventually leaving their jobs to pursue their ventures full-time. He also scaled a private community to $40,000. But according to the former Amazon employee, the real perk was not monetary benefits.

How his life has changed for the better

Saurabh revealed that his decision improved his lifestyle. Now, not only does he love his job, but he also works with people he admires. He can go to the gym whenever he wishes, as there are no strict timings. Additionally, he even has plenty of time to engage in his hobbies like reading books and going on long walks.

3 years back I took the biggest risk of my life.I left a high paying tech job at Amazon to write on the internet. What happened next changed my life. Lets start from the beginning. I had never used X. I didnt have an audience. I had no clue how I could monetise my writing, skills or experience. I just wanted to build a business doing work I love and live a life of freedom and purpose. The first few weeks were tough. Going through beginner hell, posting into the void and barely seeing any growth. But I continued to show up and eventually things started getting better. I learned the basics of digital writing, found my voice and started understanding the X game.It has not always been easy but I have made decent progress since then:- Gained 10,000 followers on X- My business has crossed $200K+ in profit- Have worked with 60+ high ticket clients around the world- Have generated $500K+ in results and built a portfolio of case studies- Multiple clients have crossed the $5K/mo and $10K/mo mark- Some of them even quit their jobs to build full time- Scaled a private community to $40KBut numbers only tell half the story. The real reward has been the lifestyle. I get to do work I love everyday. I only work with people I like. I can go to the gym whenever I want. I have plenty of time to read books or go on long walks. I can take a vacation without asking anyone for permission. I have control over my time and schedule. And that was a big part of the vision when I quit my job to build online. The best part is you dont need anything revolutionary to get here. All you need is a small but quality audience, an offer that solves a painful problem and a predictable way to turn traffic into leads and clients. You dont need to go viral, have a massive audience or hustle 12 hours per day to build a 6-figure internet business.I am writing this post for one simple reason. To help you if you are in the same position I was in 3 years back. Having real skills and experience. Knowing your potential. Knowing that you are meant for something more. But feeling stuck and not knowing how to start.I hope my story gives you permission to start. You dont even need to quit your job. You just need to publish your ideas online, talk to your audience and solve a painful problem. I am a regular guy. If I can figure it out so can you.If you want to do it faster shoot me a DM and lets chat.
— Saurabh (@TheOvermanEthos) October 5, 2026

Unlike corporate jobs where taking leave often requires prior approval, Saurabh can embark on a vacation whenever he feels like it without asking for permission. In conclusion, Saurabh pointed out that he has complete autonomy over his time and schedule, which makes his work-life balance more flexible and fulfilling.
